What Is Remote Support?
Remote or online support is when we directly connect to your computer from our computer. Software has to be setup on our computer and the client computer. However, you do need to make an appointment for online support.
How Long Does A Typical Service Call Take?
It usually takes 1 – 3 hours. There are situations where it may take longer. In almost all cases, it is necessary to check out the computer to determine what course of action is needed to fix the problem. Our regular hourly service rate is $95, with a minimum one-hour service call.
What Information Is Needed To Properly Assess A Computer Problem?
Scot Fixes PCs provides the best computer support available. Call or send an email describing your computer problem(s) as best as you can. It would be most helpful, if you could include any error messages, stop codes, screen captures and computer behavior during the phone call or email that you send. Once we have the computer we will evaluate the computer. We will then contact you and tell you exactly what we find. We will get your computer back to you ASAP.
What Type Of Payment Do You Accept?
Cash, check, Zelle and Venmo.
Do You Do Hardware Repair On Laptops Or Macbooks?
No. We do simple hardware upgrades of adding more memory and replacing hard drives. We DO NOT replace screens, HP keyboards, power connectors and other internal parts.
Do You Repair Monitors?
No. It is cheaper to buy a new one.
Do You Repair Printers?
No. It is cheaper to buy a new one.
Do You Repair iMacs?
No. We do not perform any upgrades either.
Do You Repair Mobile Phones?
No.
Do You Do Hardware Repair On Desktops?
Yes. We replace parts if possible. We install additional memory, hard drives, video cards and sometimes motherboards. We DON'T do any soldering.
Do You Setup Cable Modems, Routers, Wireless And Wired Networks?
Yes.
Do You Setup Laptop / Desktop Computers?
Yes.
Can You Setup A Laserjet Or Inkjet Printer?
Yes.
Can You Setup A Backup System For My Computer?
Yes.
Can You Recover Data From A Failing Or A Non Bootable Hard Drive?
It depends. If the hard drive is accessible, Yes. If not accessible, No. A lab can perchance retrieve the data. Prices can start @ $700 and up.
Do You Remove Malware / Viruses?
Yes.
Do You Carry Any Computer Parts?
No
What Do You Need When Fixing A Laptop?
We need the laptop and the POWER cord. The power cord is a MUST or else we will not work on the laptop.
What Do You Need When Fixing A Desktop?
We need just the desktop and nothing else.
Do You Fix Mice Or Keyboards?
No. It is much cheaper to purchase a new mouse or keyboard.
How Do I Drop Off My Computer?
You MUST come to the front of the building and NOT the garage.
